Our Sauna Story
Hello! We are Andy and Esther, the husband and wife team behind Sawna Criccieth Sauna.
We love the outdoors, we love the sea and we love saunas (and each other)!
Andy came to Wales from Canada on a backpacking holiday, met Esther…and never left! Twenty-five years later, we and our young family consider ourselves lucky to call Criccieth our home, and to live and work in such a lovely place. In 2017 we bought the site that had been Morannedd pitch and putt, and added disc and foot golf to create Criccieth multi golf. The following year we added paddle board and kayak hire to the business, making the most of our beautiful location right next to the sea. For some time we had been looking at ways to use our site beyond the summer months….after visiting friends in Sweden and becoming hooked on sauna culture, we had our light bulb moment – and Sawna Criccieth Sauna was born!
Our wood-fired sauna has been hand-built by Andy (putting his background in the building trade to good use), and was custom designed by us in conjunction with the brilliant team at Finnmark sauna.
We are delighted with the results, and hope you will be too.

Not convinced? We aren’t medical professionals, but the people who wrote this paper entitled Cardiovascular and Other Health Benefits of Sauna Bathing: A Review of the Evidence certainly are. Then there’s What to Know About Saunas and Your Health from WebMD, and Let’s talk sauna and mental wellbeing from the British Sauna Society. And of course there’s plenty of other information on the Internet for you to search for.
